There are just 5 days to go, until the ‘Kent Construction Summit’.
The event, organised by the East Kent College Group will take place at Discovery Park– Kent’s largest Business Park, and will give representatives from the civil engineering and building industry working on projects in the County, the opportunity to discuss their viewpoints on the future of training provisions in the Construction industry.
Thus far, the event has been well received, with representatives from local council, contractors of all sizes, and project managers of some of the County’s largest projects all giving up their time to ensure pathways into Engineering Construction, Civil Engineering and Building are open, welcoming and attractive for the young people of Kent, to ensure our industry’s projects continue to progress.
Attendees will include representatives from two of Kent’s largest projects– National Grid-NEMO Link and BWSC-Kent Biomass Project. Also attending, will be representatives of the UK’s largest Civil Engineering companies including Bouygues, Kier, Jackson Civils, Graham Construction, BAM and Tarmac. Leaders in Kent residential projects including Redrow, Quinn Estates and Mears Group will be in attendance, as will local contractors Ovendens, Denne Joinery, Lee Construction, City Construction, Chippie Contractors and Formation Scaffolding. Kent County Council and Kent Chamber of Commerce representatives will be at the event, as will Kent University’s.
The event is shaping up to be a well rounded mix of Construction stakeholders from across the County, offering and exchanging their experiences and advising on the route forward on Kent Civil Engineering and Building demands, skills sets and pathways over the coming years, to be able to meet industry requirements. The above mentioned companies are showing their commitment to tackling the Construction skills shortage in the Kent County.
A special thanks to East Kent College Group for giving us the opportunity to partner them in advising Civil Engineering pathways and sponsoring this event, and to Jenner Group also co-sponsoring this event.
