Hospital Cabling Project Completed in Margate

Written by Pettit Group

PETTIT’s Utilities Contracting Division have completed trench excavations through car parking areas and soft areas at QEQM Hospital Margate.
The project was challenging for the civils crews in that access for emergency services in and out of the hospital was required at all times, further to staff parking areas to be disturbed at an absolute minimum.
The works were straightforward enough, with over 150 metres of trenching completed between a new solar energy farm located on site, that had been newly installed by sunlight futures. Pettit’s installed cable routes with a mixture of 100mm ducting runs under roads and car parking areas, which were reinstated immediately, so that traffic management caused minimal disruption for staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.
The cable pull went smoothly and with minimal disruption, despite the size of the cables required to be installed.
Covid exclusion zones were created around our working areas, along with regular testing and covid compliant inductions with hospital estates.
